Short, printable guides for each calling: what you can do in steepl, the tasks you will do most often, and a checklist to confirm everything works. Pick your role below.
Serving in a ward or stake
Sign in with your own Google account. Your bishopric or ward clerk (or, for stake callings, the stake) gives that account its role; after that the right menus appear on their own. Every guide can be printed or saved as a PDF to keep beside you.
Testing steepl (UAT)
Go to Sign in, choose Sign in with email and use the test account shown on each card — the password comes from your UAT coordinator. Test accounts belong to the fictional demo ward, North Ridge Ward. Never enter real member information.
Members
Everyone in the ward — no calling needed. Most of this works without signing in.
Ward member
Everyone in the ward. Read this Sunday's program on your phone, open the hymns, keep the ward calendar in your own calendar app, choose the reminders you want, and share what you are learning in Come, Follow Me.
What you can do
Read This week and the sacrament meeting program — no sign-in needed
Open any hymn on the program to see the music and words
Add the ward calendar to your phone and get e-mail reminders for the events you choose
See leaders' phone and e-mail (when they chose to share them) once you are signed in
The bishopric, executive secretary and ward clerk. Includes the confidential bishopric workspace.
Bishop
The bishop sees the whole ward site plus the confidential bishopric workspace: who needs attention, callings and releases, interviews, visits, meeting agendas and the conducting sheet. He approves the ward site, decides which modules the executive secretary and clerk may use, and can review every access in the audit log.
What you can do
See On track: this Sunday's readiness, this week's interviews and visits, stale follow-ups and open assignments
Keep a short, dated Needs attention list with an owner for every entry
Move callings and releases from discussing to set apart, put them on Sunday's program, and clear them once recorded in LCR
Schedule interviews (including tithing declaration), plan visits, and run meetings from Handbook agendas
Conduct sacrament meeting from the Conducting sheet on your phone
Counselors work in the same confidential bishopric workspace as the bishop: the attention list, callings, interviews, visits and agendas. On the Sundays you conduct, the conducting sheet walks you through the meeting, and the Visits page shows the visits assigned to you.
What you can do
See On track and every bishopric module, the same as the bishop (Access & audit is read-only for you)
Conduct sacrament meeting from the Conducting sheet on the Sundays you are assigned
See the visits assigned to you with Mine and mark them done
Schedule the interviews you hold and keep callings moving through their stages
Edit everything on the ward site (bulletin, calendar, announcements), as all bishopric members can
The executive secretary keeps the bishopric's calendar: interview appointments (including tithing declaration), the Sunday interview sheet, and meeting agendas with their assignments. He sees only the bishopric modules the bishop grants, and can edit the whole ward site like any site editor.
What you can do
Schedule interviews in a week or day view and print the Sunday interview sheet
Add a list of tithing declaration appointments at once with Add several
Create bishopric and council meetings from Handbook templates and track assignments
Use Visits or the Conducting sheet only when the bishop grants them
Edit the bulletin, calendar, announcements and the rest of the ward site
The ward clerk keeps steepl's leader directory and roles current, adds ward business to the program, and — with the bishop's grant — clears callings once they are recorded in LCR. He edits the ward site like any site editor and prints the QR poster for the doors.
What you can do
Clear callings and releases once recorded in LCR (with the Callings grant)
Add sustainings, releases and other ward business to Sunday's bulletin
Invite leaders by Google e-mail and import a typed-up leaders list
Print the QR poster for the chapel doors
Edit the bulletin, calendar and announcements like any ward editor
The people who keep the ward site current: the bulletin, calendar, announcements and flyers.
Site editor
Site editors keep the ward site current week to week: the Sunday bulletin, the calendar, announcements and flyers, reminders and messages, the Church calendar feed, moderation and the ward's settings. It is an assignment, not a calling, and it has no access to the bishopric's confidential workspace.
What you can do
Prepare, publish and print each Sunday's bulletin, with the hymn picker and speaker confirmations
Add ward events, plan the yearly events with an owner, and connect the Church calendar feed
Approve organization announcements and keep expired ones tidy
Build flyers from templates and send them to the bishopric for review
Set reminder rules, send one-off messages, and moderate the study thread
The ward music coordinator fills in the music for each Sunday's program — hymns, prelude and postlude, the musical number, the music leader and accompanist — straight into the bulletin. Everything else on the bulletin is kept by the ward's editors.
What you can do
Edit the Music section of each Sunday's bulletin, and nothing else on it
Pick hymns by number or title from all 423 hymns (Hymns and Hymns—For Home and Church)
Check how each hymn opens for members in the hymn viewer
Elders Quorum, Relief Society, Young Women and Primary presidents (and any organization leader the ward adds) share news for their own organization: announcements, events and flyers. Elders Quorum and Relief Society presidents also choose the general conference talk for each Sunday.
What you can do
Write announcements for your organization (an editor approves them)
Add events for your organization to the ward calendar
Make a flyer for an activity and send it to the bishopric for review
Elders Quorum and Relief Society: choose the Sunday talk in Study plan
Draft a message to your organization's subscribers for an editor to send
Stake presidency, clerk, communication director and high councilors — every ward in the stake.
Stake leaders
The stake presidency, stake clerk, executive secretary and communication director keep the stake's events, announcements, conferences and roles current, and see how every ward's site is doing. High councilors see the same pages read-only.
What you can do
See every ward's program status for next Sunday and its editor coverage on the stake Overview
Open any ward's details: bulletin, upcoming events and leaders
Add stake events that appear on every ward's calendar automatically
Publish stake announcements and schedule stake conferences that flow to every ward
Invite and release stake leaders, and create or repair a ward's bishop grant
The few people who run steepl itself: creating stakes and wards and watching background jobs.
Platform administrator
The few people who run steepl itself. Create stakes and wards, make the first grants so each unit can run itself, archive or delete wards, and watch the background jobs. Platform administrators never see the bishopric area.
These guides describe steepl, a member-run ward website. Official records, callings and finances are kept in Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) and the Church's own tools; nothing in steepl replaces them.
